About Igloo Games

Igloo Games is composed of Nathan Hunley and Vivek Melwani. They met while attending DigiPen Institute of Technology in Vancouver, BC (although, the university has since relocated to Redmond, WA). Upon graduation, Nathan joined Sony Computer Entertainment America while Vivek joined Electronic Arts. After two years of professional experience, filled with dreams and ambition, they merged their ideas to establish Igloo Games.

Igloo Games was conceived in San Diego, CA in 2000. With (practically) zero dollars in the bank the two partners attempted the impossible - to build an independent self-funded game studio. Game prototypes were built and showcased to many major labels. Unfortunately nobody would take the plunge and fund the talent. After 18 months, it was apparent that dreams would have to wait as the two parted ways once again. Nathan ventured to Japan and joined Q-Games in Kyoto, while Vivek settled at Nintendo in Redmond, WA.

Several years later the two would meet again and collaborate at Nintendo. Combined they have released multiple titles on various platforms. Some notable titles include:

  1. Mario Vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis, Nintendo DS

  2. Ridge Racer DS, Nintendo DS

  3. 1080˚ Avalanche, Nintendo GameCube

  4. Mario Vs. Donkey Kong, Nintendo DS

  5. Future Cop LAPD, PlayStation, Mac, PC

In March of 2008, when Steve Jobs announced the iPhone SDK it was time to dream again. Miles apart from each other, Nathan and Vivek began corresponding with each other through e-mail with the subject line “Fantasy and Reality”. No need to pitch to anyone. No need to show off prototypes and beg. No need for a studio. No need for a publisher. And so it began...
